Stuff That Matters is super stoked to collaborate with Australian contemporary artist - and Byron icon - Marty Baptist. He is a cool cat and we love his gritty, sometimes playful-but-other-times-thought-provoking aesthetic.

Marty has exhibited internationally since 2003, and his work is held in numerous institutions and private collections. He has teamed up with a diverse array of creative partners and labels locally, in the USA and Europe including Paramount House, Cliché, Krooked Skateboards, Adidas, and Warner Brothers. 

Marty’s work combines a personal form of existentialism with raw expressionist symbolism. A lifetime lived and experienced deep within skateboard and street culture have led to the development of an authentic and unique outsider visual aesthetic.

Bus-stop graffiti and sgraffito meet ambiguous, elliptic text and symbolic imagery from the ancient and contemporary worlds. His sources are found in the underworld, chance encounters, late nights on the street, early mornings on the beach, overheard conversations, bar room chatter, confused situations and texts, online and on the phone.

Marty’s work questions how we live our daily lives. He is raw and honest, and we admire how he expresses himself creatively, and inspires others to do the same.
